Holiday Happenings… yes already ;)

The holidays are coming in at full force now and Little Things is getting so many things ready for YOU. Including being a part of Little Boxes put on by the creative minds over at Besty and Iya and Keel Creative.

Little Boxes last year was so much fun…. Buuuuut THIS year we are pairing it up with our SECOND YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!

We couldn’t be more excited to be one of over 160 local small businesses, and holy raffle prizes!! Serious amounts of prizes. An iPad, dinners from locally owned restaurants, hotel stays, gift bags from most of the businesses including an awesome one from yours truly ;) , and what I think is a genius prize A SHOPPING SPREE ($600, $400, $200) to ANY of the businesses!! To go along with the wish lists Cory, my dear husband, is hosting our second annual Men’s Holiday Happy Hour December 20th 4-8pm. A little last minute, but not quite. Shopping that’s laid back, helpful, involves drinking beer, and best of all wrapping of some sweet locally made gifts for you, sisters, moms, ext. ;)

SurfRider Foundation Fundraiser – First Thursday April 5th

April’s First Thursday event is Ocean themed and will be showcasing some of the Pacific NW’s coolest artists.

Featured Artists Include:

Alli Bratt
Daniel DeLeon
Jason Edwards Davis
Myah Bailey
Shannon Larson
and More

This is the first show that I, Cory… shop husband,  have curated for Little Things and am very excited to be Promoting the show for the SurfRider Foundation. I have always thought that they are one of the best non-profits around because the world has no greater wealth than that which comes from the ocean.

A good portion of the proceeds are going to the SurfRider Foundation – Portland Chapter to help them with their efforts in keeping the worlds water clean.

The show will start First Thursday April 5th, 2012 and conclude on April 30th, 2012.

There will be a silent auction held on the Fifth of April.

Special guests from SurfRider will be on hand to share the awesomeness that is their cause.

If you want to donate to the cause or have a piece of art that you would like to include in the silent auction feel free to contact us directly by March 30th. Space is limited.

Black Friday is not just for the Big Boxes

Oooookay. We are all moved in. Turkey is digested. Now the holiday season is in full swing. Little Things is now in suite #102 right on Lovejoy between 17th and 18th. New and shiny store.

Come and check us out tomorrow 10am-8pm (that’s 3 extra shopping hours folks!) as we are one of the many Little Boxes rip raring to go on Black Friday. That means we are not only giving you some super fun “choose your own discount adventure” but we’ve teamed up with over 80 different small boxes all over our lovely Portland. Bring in a receipt from another participating store and get an EXTRA 10% off!! We’ve got maps so you’ll know where they are all at. Also there is a huuuge raffle with our team of little boxes. Go to each store and drop your name in. PLUS we also have our very own raffle aaand giveaways with purchases… While supplies last ;)

Tomorrow we are also teaming up with Clair Vintage Inspired and Sarah Giffrow for Bowlful of Heart. We will be collecting pet supplies for Hope’s Haven and Newberg Animal Shelter. Oh what a busy WEEK!!

Little Things is now carrying a couple new lines, including a T-shirt line!!

TanQ shirts are in the store!! I have a limited quantity so get them while they are HOT! If you know about the brand you know that with a great T-shirt it also supports a great wait… double great causes. Printed on American Apparel (for women aaaand men) they run $24 and ALL as in 100% of the proceeds go toward the monthly non profit. Check out what TanQ says about this months non profit, The Children’s Protection Society, HERE. Aaaand remember… “1 Tee, 1 Month, 1 Good Deed”

Lockets from Birds of Oregon

Robin from Birds Of Oregon stopped in yesterday with some more of her lovely lockets. These have been flying out the door. So cute and girly, yet very sentimental and classic at the same time. Robin mentions “A locket says ‘I have someone close to my heart” .. A locket says, “my diamond is a person, not a rock”. A locket says ‘remember that time we went to the beach? well I do and I will forever”. Fashion or function or just because, these nail it all around the board. Made from all of Robins original illustrations all on vintage one of a kind lockets. Come in and check them out!!

New SOCKS!!

You know what showed up to Little Things this week?!?! New Sock it To Me socks! Including Portland’s Design-a-Sock contest winners Caffeinated and Right as Rain. So fun so durable. These socks made me become a sock faaanatic. All I need to say is boots, Sock it To Me socks, tights and a sweet skirt. Winter never looked so sassy, and for $7.50 ooor 3 pairs for $20 they won’t break the bank either ;)

What a winter!!

I’ve been behind on my blog, and want to apologize. I’M SO SORRY that you haven’t been able to know what’s going on, what’s new, what artists are doing amazing things, and the big one I’m sorry about… There is NO PHOTO’S. Slacker RIGHT HERE. There. Now I can put my tail between my legs and write again. Get you up to date. Whew I feel better already, You?

Now let’s start… Little Things is OPEN!!

Little Things is a boutique in NW Portland right between the Pearl district and Nobb Hill. Here we specialize in locally made jewelry and accessories. We have a little bit of everything.

The store Little Things is this crazy idea I came up with while traveling, doing business classes at PSU, and where it really struck me was when I found an amazing crafty group of amaaaazing ladies. Why not, why continue to pay to learn how to make fake business dreams when I can do my own. I held my breath and jumped right in. Literally.

I rented at GARAGE at the Lovejoy ActivSpace, and transformed it to a little boutique. I wanted the space to be the opposite of what it was, and now I think it is. It’s cozy and cute.

Filling the space has been my absolute favorite thing. Finding local artist has been quite easy and every single one has inspired me. The whole idea behind the store was to show off Portland’s amazing jewelry and accessories designers. From funky to sleek, from a simple fun impulse buy to a “I must save to buy this item buuut it’s worth it”. Little Things has it all, and what’s great about it is that you are supporting not only a local business, but local artists all in one stop shop ;)

Life is wonderful!!

Things are crazy but going great. Little Things is coming along quite nicely. Only a month ago I put up my coming soon sign. I can’t believe it. It’s amazing the transition the little garage has made. Before it was a “can you imagine” type of place where only I could see the potential. Now I’ve been meeting with amazing artists and enjoying every moment!

November 11th, a Thursday, will be the GRAND OPENING. There will be hot drinks and some yummy desserts as well as some shrinky crafting action and sweet raffle giveaways!! Come down say hi and bring a friend. See you then and in the mean time enjoy life!!! Aaaand check out the Little Things facebook page and “like” us even though you love us. ;)
